The name is part America, part Scotland, and part yarny trouble.
In America, girls can be called chicks. In Scotland, women can affectionately be called hens. Mrs T is American, Mr T is Scottish, so ChickHen brings both sides together. Yes, Mr T is technically the hen. He is fine with it. Mostly.
And of course, it ties into the classic yarn game of yarn chicken — that risky moment when you are racing to finish a project and hoping you have enough yarn left. Will the yarn win? Will you win? Nobody knows until the last stitch.
The maker.
Originally from Colorado, with family in Florida, Mrs T has been knitting since she was a child. She taught herself to crochet before YouTube tutorials were everywhere, and she has not stopped making since.
Mrs T is the creative force in front of the camera, sharing tutorials, finished objects, patterns, miniature knitting, crochet makes and plenty of yarny experiments. She also has a habit of going rogue — starting with a pattern, then tweaking it, changing it, improving it, ignoring bits of it, or giving the whole thing extra personality.
Her favourite colour is hot pink, and she supports the Denver Broncos, so don’t mention it if they’ve lost.
The beginner.
Mr T is Scottish, opinionated, and reluctantly crafty. He is the tech brain behind the camera — filming, editing, keeping things running, asking beginner questions, and occasionally causing chaos.
He took up loom knitting during the COVID pandemic with Mrs T’s help, and more recently started crocheting. He also brings Scottish Word of the Day to the channel, because apparently every yarn channel needs a Scottish translation department.
His favourite colour is blue, he is a proud Rangers supporter, and he has another channel called GOG Explores — GOG meaning Grumpy Old Git. He knows. He does not mind. Much.
It started with a last-minute Vlogmas idea.
Yarn ChickHen launched on 1st December 2025 — mainly because the night before, Mrs T turned to Mr T and said she wanted to start a YouTube channel. By the next morning, it existed.
They jumped straight into Vlogmas, releasing a video every single day through most of December until Christmas. Then Mr T got his own back: the day before 1st June 2026, he announced they were taking part in the June Vlogging Challenge — a video every day in June.
That mix of yarn, learning, laughter, last-minute decisions and mild panic is very much Yarn ChickHen.
What Yarn ChickHen is about.
This is not a perfect, polished, pretend-everything-went-right craft channel. It is cosy, honest, funny and beginner-friendly.
